Skyzone 3D FPV Goggles Rumor Confirmed

by DronerJanuary 8, 2015

The rumor we reported earlier this week is confirmed: Skyzone is releasing a new version of their popular FPV goggles that will include a DVR as well as 3D video capabilities. The 3D FPV goggles come as part of a complete 3D FPV package that includes a dedicated 3D camera and transmitter along with the upgraded version of the goggles.

The Skyzone 02 video goggles have the same built-in 32-channel 5.8 Ghz dual diversity receiver as in the current model as well as the popular integrated forward-facing camera, which allows users to switch between the FPV camera view and their own view without removing the goggles.

The new model maintains all the same 2D FPV capabilities of it’s predecessor, but it will be the first mainstream commercial 3D FPV rig for the hobbyist.

The built-in DVR can capture still photos, as well as 2D and 3D video.

There is also an integrated menu system as well as the same IPD adjustment.

I think I’ll wait for a while to see how well these work for others before I go putting down over 500 dollars. I just bought a set of V2 goggles and I love them but I have lots of questions about this setup. If you have two sides to the transmitter and apparently two different receives going to separate eye pieces, this is telling me that it will not have diversity anymore. Will diversity be retained if you’re not flying 3D?
